Beyond the Experience

You are here

I learned much more that GCN is about the process of building long term relationships with communities, not necessarily about the process of "building!" It was truly priceless to be allowed to be on the 'construction site' with a bunch of indigenous people in Mexico. Tourists DO NOT get that opportunity-nor should they. We all believed WE TRULY MADE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OTHERS.

Bringing the GCN Experience Back Home

As a GCN return trip participant, we thank you for sharing your skills, talents, resources, humor, insight and humanity as part of Global Citizens Network.  We hope that your cultural immersion experience was valuable and will continue to have a meaningful impact in your life moving forward. We also hope the Welcome Back packet you received upon returning home has been useful in your re-entry process; here you will find additional resources that may help you reflect upon your experience, utilize what you’ve learned, and continue your growth and involvement in your own community.

Just as you may have experienced culture shock in varying degrees while in the host community, the return home can provide unexpected challenges. To support return trip participants and to further the organization's mission, we encourage participants to continue to engage with GCN and to take advantage of the resources we’ve gathered on the following web pages:

We also encourage you to share your stories and continue to interact with other global citizens on our Facebook, TwitterPinterestFlickr, and YouTube accounts.

Once more, thank you for your dedication to the GCN mission. We hope you'll join us again soon!
