Day 4- Monday 8-20-07
This morning is windy, but the sun is out. After breakfast we headed out to the Public Health Building to meet the other personnel. Then we walked down to the Social Services Building to begin painting the outside of this building. Some local volunteers showed up to help and stayed with us until noon time. The stairs were torn down and are going to be rebuilt by the assigned project manager. We were served a delicious lunch at the Public Health Building. Coffee and pie were included. After lunch we returned to continue painting the building. By 4PM, two team members went back to our home (the arena building) to start dinner. Amy is in charge of creating a menu. This evening after dinner we attended a class to begin to learn how to make flutes. It's 7PM and Helmer, a tribal leader is our instructor for the flute making class Part I. Tomorrow night we do Part II. Helmer also showed us his musical instruments made of bows. Next on our agenda, a cooking class, Tracey, and her brother, Sterling, demonstrated how to make Indian bread. She also showed us a tepee lamp and costumes she made. That concluded our day and we returned home (the hockey arena). It's been a long day and the team had no trouble falling asleep!
